“It’s Not You!”— 5 Possible Reasons Why Your Relationships Never Last
It’s okay!!! If one relationship doesn’t work out, it’s not the end of the world. Pull yourself up, and hopefully the next one will be better and something that lasts longer; or to say that in Hollywoodesque way, it can be your “happily ever after”.
However, If you’re one of those who, despite all your desperate efforts, have never been in a long-term relationship and find yourself back to the breakups every few months, it’s a problem— a big one, in fact.
Things could be more than what meet your eyes.
It might not necessarily be ‘him’/‘her’, the incompatibility, bad sex, different interests, distance or other clichéd and generalized reasons. The reason could well be different. It could be you and the unaddressed issues you’re dealing with why your relationships never transcend into a long-term one.
“It’s not you, it’s me…”
Here are 5 possible reasons why your relationship never lasts-
1. You have a big ego
Ego is one of the biggest relationship killers. In fact, it is also one of the biggest factors behind personal and professional failure. When you constantly compare yourself to the other person, gets jealous of their success, are always in the defensive mode, and too self-centered, you’re letting your ego control your relation with him/her. And needless to say, it always ends up in breakup.
2. Your work-related stress is getting the best of you
Being ambitious and workaholic is okay, but when you cross that threshold level and reach the extreme zone, it starts reflecting negatively on your personal life. And when you’re not invested in your relationship as healthily as the other person, an abrupt ending is often imminent.
3. You have anger issues
The facts about anger issues are that, if left unchecked, they are going to affect every aspect of your personal and professional life. All of us, in fact, deal with anger. Some outbursts are legit, others absurd. You must learn to control your unsettled emotions and channel it in the positive way. If you’re always upset at your partner, angry over their small mistakes—you have “fail” written all over your relationship. 4. You’re highly demanding
A successful relationship is all about compromises on different fronts. You adjust to her/his aspirations, the other person considers your career goals; he/she understands your travel-lust, you understand their need for settled life. If you are too demanding, simply overlooking the needs and preferences of your partner – undermining them and their opinions every time – the relationship won’t last longer than few months. Period.
5. You don’t really want a relationship
Maybe you’ve been in and out of relationship so many times in the past year because you don’t want a relationship in the first place. Maybe you just want to focus on your career first; maybe you really are not ready for all responsibilities that long-term relationship brings. If this is the case, you don’t have to follow the convention—date just because others are dating, marry because that’s what you do when in your 30s and 40s. Do what the inner-you want.
These are 5 possible reasons why your relationships never last. Fix them; of course, it would take some time and effort. But over the course, your life will be on the right track and you’ll be much happier.
